The Site
These allotments are on the corner of Lyndhurst / St Andrews Road, Cousldon, Surrey. There is no postal address as such, the entrance to the site being down an alleyway at the corner of the two roads. However the postcode CR5 3HU enables it to be found on Google maps or similar.A small, friendly plot on the edge of London, bordered by a field on one side and with views over Chipstead Golf Course on another with 21 plots and 27 plotholders. We have informal arrangements to buy things such as seeds, seed potatoes, onion sets, bagged manure and stable manure collectively to reduce costs. Two local stables provide horse manure for collection. We usually hold an annual barbeque over August Bank Holiday weekend, and sometimes have a Fireworks Night event in November.
People
Because we are a small site, everyone knows everyone, which is what makes being on site a pleasure. We have a nice mix of old hands with a lot of allotment and gardening experience, and the time to keep an eye out for others and of younger people with children, which enables us to boast a slide and sand pit.
