WATCH OUT:

 

  • In periods of dry weather, plants will need watering

  • The number of aphids and scale insects are on the increase!

 

 

TO DO LIST:

 

  • Pinch out the side shoots on tomatoes

  • Winter brassicas should be planted out now

  • Plant out all summer bedding

  • Harvest early salads, carrots and new potatoes

  • Plant autumn flowering bulbs e.g. crocus and cyclamen

  • Water baskets and pots

  • Keep on top of weeding

  • Tie in sweet peas and climbing beans as they grow

  • Plant out squashes, cucumbers, tomatoes and sweetcorn

  • Start picking sweet peas

  • Harvest overwintered onions

  • Start pruning plum and cherry trees.

WHAT SHOULD YOU SOW NOW?

 

  • Turnips

  • Runner and French beans

  • Winter bedding – wallflower and pansies

  • Beetroot

  • Salads

  • Peas.
