WATCH OUT:

 

  • Rotting in stored produce

  • Pigeons interfering with your brassicas

  • Snow collecting on trees and greenhouses, the weight can be damaging.

TO DO LIST:

 

  • Dig over bed when the weather is fine enough

  • Clean greenhouse glass inside and out

  • Light sulphur candle in the greenhouse to clear pests out of the nooks and crannies

  • Plan your plot for next year

  • Order seeds

  • Remove dead leaves from winter brassicas

  • Lift carrots and parsnips and store in damp sand for eating when the ground is frozen.

WHAT SHOULD YOU SOW NOW?

 

  • Traditionally, prize winning onions are sown on Boxing Day with artificial light and heat. Check fruit and potato stores to remove rotting material before it spreads.
